Band of Brothers

Galaxy 11 - Knights 10
Galaxy 15 - Knights 10

In front of a rucus sell-out crowd the defending champs thwarted the Knights bid to win any games on Tuesday, with a pair of big wins to move them closer to clinching a playoff bye. The first game was actually just one inning, a game that Galaxy led through six and was posponed due to rain. Starting the first game 11-10 in what was the top of the seventh the Knights needed a run to tie the game. After loading the bases the Knights could only get one, tying the game and forcing Galaxy to bat in the bottom. Greg "Brother-of-Dave" Racki belted a line shot that found a gap for a walk-off home-run.
In Game Two it was much of the same, as the combination of Rick Moleti's pitching and Galaxy's lineup proved tough to contend with. Mike Kelleher took the hill for the second game and was featuring a new "out" pitch that involved a stride towards third and a sidways spin. The pitch looked effective but few pitches are actually effective against the Galaxy batters, who could hit grape shot out of a cannon. This game was closer than the final score depicts, as the Knights played some good defense for the first five innings. Andrew "A-Dub" Wadden is coming on of late and raked Moleti for five hits in five at-bats, inluding a pair of doubles and some clutch two-out RBI's. Galaxy played some nifty defense of their own, including a great unassisted double play by Ricky Madden who appears to have finally shaken the cob webs off. Christian Howard and Kev Carmody continue to mash with a triple and a home-run respectively. Dave "Brother-of-Greg" Racki came up in the sixth (an eight run Galaxy frame) and hit a tater to right field to put the game out of reach. Galaxy is now on a late season tear, climbing to second in the standings, the Knights moved closer to playing the first game of the round-robin with two losses in one night.

Also of Note: In the bottom of the seventh inning with two out Jimmy boy Cronin stepped into the box. Swinging away at the first pitch he sent a BB out to right field. People scattered as the ball tailed towards the crowd. Sailing over the crowd the ball pinged off of the window of Kevin Carmody's van, sending shards of glass through the air and onto the street and field. Luckily nobody was hurt, in the van, or on the field.
