Day Game

July 30, 2007

KG Sox 16 - NFL 3

The KG Sox dismantled an undermanned NFL team in a day game on Saturday. Pat O'Leary was pitching extremely well and was also helped out by the impatience of the NFL hitters. O'Leary looked dominant against this young team and had a perfect game through three, negated by a Colin Carpenter over-throw. The big righty had three strikeouts including two by Tim "The Fastest Man in the World" Coillins who was baffled at the plate. NFL was without their starter Jim "The Other Moleti" Moleti who was hauling lobsters. NFL with only nine players didn't stand a chance against the KG Sox who were realing after a walkoff loss and a controversial ending to thier last game. Leo Barletta got the start and had trouble producing any type of arc. The Sox battled through multiple hangovers to pick up a win and move into a third place tie with Galaxy. NFL drops another game against the Greensox and are now only a half a game up on the Knights for fifth place.

Also of Note: On Saturday and Sunday the annual Horshoe Tournament was held on Short Beach. On Saturday the rains came and threatened to submerge the entire island and all of its peoples under water. Unfortunetely the tournament was postponed until Sunday. The big stories were Brickyard, who signed up 4 teams for the tournament and failed to show, and two South Shore guys who made it undefeated to the final. Pat O'Leary and Chad Doucette (both of the Greensox) cruised throught the losers bracket to meet the unknowns in a North Shore vs. South Shore Final. Chad "Chesney" Doucette rode O'Leary's back to two decisive wins in the final and take home the three hundred dollar grand prize.
