The monkey is now off of the Greensox backs as they dismantle the Galaxy dynasty in seven, 18-5. Some players sat in the parking lot to stay warm, Matt Hatfield had the flu, and Tony "Scoopy" Lorenza hit infield to Colin Carpenter before the game. Frankly, it didn't seem as though anybody wanted to play this game, but being the marquis matchup that it was, it was getting played. The umpire was also really focused on making sure this game was played fairly and accurately. The controversy with the umpire started early and their was a botched coin(clicker) flip that saw Galaxy take the home bench. Galaxy came out flat in the first, and the Sox put up a four spot in the bottom and did'nt look back. The big bats of Galaxy were silenced by the wind and the small-ball philosophy of the Greensox prevailed again, their fifth straight win. Zach Taylor hit another solo homer, a gap-shot to right center, and Mr. Dan "Repeat Offender" O'Connor hit a grand slammy to the gap in left center. Rick Moleti was not his dominant self on the mound and chalked it up to the absence of Alex, Galaxy's starting back-stop.
Also of note: Only 33 percent of the "Howies" were available.
And: The Paul Foley Rule: If an overthrow hits the bench, a player, a cooler, a beer can, the trash can, or anything else in the vacinity of the bench, the ball is out-of -play.
