Kelly Green Sox 19 - NFL 8
This one was interesting, as the friendly comradery between these two teams translated into a rather sloppy, grinding game. The Sox let up a couple of unearned runs in the first on a sensless overthrow to home, only to come back with a four spot in the bottom of the inning. The Sox looked a little sloppy on the defensive side, but the lineup continues to click and provide run support for Pat O'Leary, who was fierce on the hill. NFL went with Leo Barletta who pitched well but the Greensox lineup showed good plate discipline and made him work through every at-bat. Jim Osborne flashed a gold glove at short and did everything he could to keep the young NFL in the game. The Greensox become the first team in the league with five wins, running their record to 5-2 coming into a re-match with first place Galaxy. NFL drops to 1-5 and now see themselves tied in the cellar with the Knights of Columbus.
Also of Note: Pat O'Leary hit his first tater of the year, a drive that found the gap in right center.
