Brickyard 6 - Barbarians 2
In a defensive battle the Brickyard got all the big hits, and made all the big plays in order to win this one. Finally getting Tony Ragusa back on the hill, the Brickyard looked as dominant as there 6-1 record indicates. The Barbarians, also one of the favorites coming into this game, gave up four runs in the bottom of the first inning and couldn't recover. There was a controversial call in the second when what looked to be a Dave Johnson round-tripper was robbed by one of Brickyard's clones. The play was called an out and was defended that the player had both feet planted on the ground on the catch, then fell through the (construction) fence. Probably a turning point in the game as the wind was taken out of the Barbarian's sails. After the second inning, it was all Ragusa, a side from a Carl Capinigro blast to left. The Brickyard, road Ragusa's pitching, and some nifty defense to a decisive win. The "Yard" now sits alone in the eagle's perch at 6-1, the Barbarians now fall into a third place tie with Galaxy and face the Greensox on Wednesday night.
Also of Note: The ruling on this homerun call was right, but for the future there should be some clarification on this rule.
And: The Brickyard is not only a softball team, but a late night bar frequented by many members of the softball league, who, if lucky, will score a repeat offender there.
"Repeat Offender": A female that you have hooked up with several times.
