Knights 13 - Greensox 11
Two Classy ball clubs met on Friday night, and played possibly the most entertaining game of the year. In front of a sell-out crowd, the Knights prevailed 13-11 against a strong Kelly Greensox team. The Knights featured a new pitcher, southpaw Mikey Kelleher, who somehow found a way to keep the Sox bats at bay, and squeek out a win. The Greensox big righty, James "Patrick" O'Leary didn't have his good stuff and looked a little worn out on the hill. The Sox, in their third game of a three game week came out flat and couldn't match the Knights intensity. The Knights just wanted this game more. Dave Barille, who lost his starting gig was put on suicide watch by Knights Management. To his credit he came in and played second, making an important out in the bottom of the seventh. This game was up and down, and rather sloppy on the defensive side. The Knights of Columbus came up with big hits all night long, including two jacks from Andrew Wadden to right, and a tater from MVP candidate Andreas, "The Spaniard". The Greensox still had a chance down two with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, but Kelleher got out of a bases loaded jam with a ground ball right back at him. The Knights now have crawled out of the cellar and notch their second win, running their record to 2-5. The Sox drop to third with a 6-3 mark. Also of Note: Christos Turner of the Greensox had his fly broken and fixed it with three 1/2 inch, gold safety pins. Asked about the malfuction Christos replied "Just think if I catch a hard-on, then dive for a ball".
