Milky Way Galaxy

August 6, 2007

Galaxy 10 - Tides 6

In Friday night action Galaxy played a competetitive game versus the Tides. Galaxy fought hard throughout the game and did just enough to stay on top. Although asleep for awhile, parody appears to be making a comeback in the 2007 softball season. Galaxy was featuring a variety of pitchers that came in for relief of Rick Moleti, who gave his arm some much needed rest in preparation for another playoff run. Dan Fiore came in for some middle relief, and Rick Madden picked up his first save of the season. Tides struggled to field a team and once again had only nine guys. Lacking uniforms, players, coaching, and heart, this small market ball club could be at risk of losing its franchise all together. Joel Sanphy got the start at pitcher but had a sieve for defense behind him, and no run support. Galaxy now clinches a first round bye and moves into second place. Tides has clinched the last place seed and will play in the first game of the playoffs and that matchup will most likely be the Knights in a thriller of a first round.

Definitions- 1. Sieve: an instrument with a meshed or perforated bottom, used for separating coarse from fine parts of loose matter, for straining liquids, etc.

Also of Note: The rumor mill continues to churn. As teams sense their fate in the 2007 playoffs, recruiting and contract negotiations have begun. The 2007 playoffs will with out a doubt be very interesting. Rumor 1: A newly improved PMW,(Precision Motor Works who own two titles out of the last four years, and are also known as "Piss, Moan, and Whine")could return next year.
