Brickyard 6 - NFL 3
A Great game that had its share of controversy. This game was a pitchers duel and a defensive battle through four innings where the game remained scoreless. Both teams managed to get runners in scoring position but nobody could come up with a timely hit until Evan "The Marksman" Markum broke it open with an RBI in the bottom of the fourth inning. The NFL tacked on another insurance run, courtesy of a Tony Barletta inside the park home-run that bounced awkwardly off the construction fencing in left field, and led 2-0 through four. The Brickyard came roaring back with a little help from a Kylie Barret tater that left the yard in a hurry. With the score 3-2 Clinton Alessi came up with a runner on. On a 2-2 count Alessi hit a shot out to Left field. The ball appeared to bounce of the top of the fence and into the stands. The first base umpire(Hoppy) twirled his finger signaling a home-run as Alessi made his way around first on what looked to be a two-run bomb. The home plate umpire(Foley) over-ruled, first saying the ball went through a hole in the fence, then saying it bounced, finally ruling it a ground rule double. With the game tied the Brickyard came up in the top of the sixth with the heart of their order. NFL, emotionally spent from the botched call, made some errors and could not come up with any big plays, yielding three runs, and the ballgame.
Also of Note: Tony "Scoopy" Lorenza coined the phrase "Pedophile Mo-bile", describing his black 1999 dodge minivan with limo tint.
And: The Kelly Greensox do not play any games this week. Tonight is the game of the week featuring the Knights and the Barbarians.
