Galaxy 17 - KG Sox 9
The Kelly Green Sox are still in the Nahant Softball league, they just have not played a game since mid-late June, the "For Pete's Sake" game versus the Brickyard. On a steamy night, in front of a sell-out crowd, Galaxy came out firing. The defending champs look to be heating up offensively in the latter half of the season. Galaxy's lineup was really clicking and built a seven to nothing lead with a four run first and a three run third. Ricky Moleti had his good stuff and carried a no-hitter through three innings. In the fourth the KG Sox looked to finally dust off the cobwebs developed after a long hiatus from action. The Sox exploded for a monster 7 run inning in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game and take the momentum. Just as soon as the KG Sox swung the momentum, Galaxy swung it back, with a couple more big innings which included a pair of homeruns from Barry Paskevich and a deep blast from Kevin Carmody. The KG Sox scored a couple more and got a big hit form Johnny "Thong" Lacorte, a ground-rule triple, but couldn't keep up down the stretch. Galaxy continues to roll and are now in a tie for second with the Barbarians with a upcoming matchup with the league leader, Brickyard on Wednesday. The Sox are in a shnide, losing three straight and falling to fourth in the standings.
Also of Note: Joe Glowacki, who recently chopped his dirty dreads off, swung a grub hoe with very little pain, and looks to return to action, pending a management decision. And: Tony "Scoopy" Lorenza showed up to the KG Sox game in full uniform, unfortunetely due to a league rule he was only allowed to be signed on the team as a statistician. Anthony Alessi who normally keeps the Sox Stats was visibly upset.
