Hot Time Summer in the City

June 27, 2007

Brickyard 14 - Tides 3

A bonified scorcher, not the game, the weather. The game, was a blowout, with the Brickyard easily covering the spread, 14-3. Tony Ragusa, who is looking like a frontrunner for the Cy Young, had a perfect game into the fifth, an inning where he walked the first batter and let up the only three runs of the game. There were no homeruns, as the heat and humidity morphed the non-restricted flight balls into bags of oatmeal. This Tides team continues to struggle behind the pitching of Tommy King who claimed to have, "gotten his swagger back", on the mound. Anthony Alessi was benched after lying down in the outfield(literally) during a couple of pitches, and has clearly taken a vacation of some kind. The Brickyard continues to roll, notching a league best 7-1 record coming into possibly the biggest game thus far against the second place, 7-3, Greensox. The Tides fall deeper into a hole at the bottom of the division, but are still optimistic about the playoffs.
Also of Note: The Tides team looked sharp in turquiose blue waitstaff shirts that had been converted into uniforms.
